Apple Sends out a Whole Slew of New Stuff

on 10/20/09
Today Apple updated many of it's computers.  They revamped the Mac Mini, Macbook, and the iMac.  Apple also released a new wireless keyboard, and a new, multitouch, unibody mouse.

New iMacs
Apple revamped the iMacs into the 21st century.  They updated the design with aluminum and glass.  Apple also released a whopping 27-inch model for a cool $1,699.

Apple also beefed-up its processing power in the iMacs.  The lower models still have Intel Core Duo chips, but they a have been upped to a blistering 3.06 GHz (keep in mind the computer I am writing this on still uses the ancient Intel Pentium 1.8 GHz chip).  The $1,999 iMac now has the option for a 2.66 GHz i5 processor or a 2.8 GHz i7 processor.

Some of the new features on the iMacs include an SD Card slot and the inclusion of a Wireless Keyboard and the new Magic Mouse.

Magic Mouse

This is a very interesting peripheral. Instead of Apple's old Might Mouse "nub", it has no buttons; AT ALL.  It uses a multitouch input similar to  iPhone or the new Macbooks.  The buttons were similar to that of the Might Mouse, with the buttons concealed under the sleek unibody design.  The same gestures in the Macbook and iPhone are used in this mouse, pinching to zoom, sliding to slide through a slide show, and more.

New Macbooks

Apple has revamped its 13-inch Macbook, well, not REALLY revamped because it has the same look as the old iBooks.  Except, now these models have a rubber bottom so they don't fall into the toilet whilst your on the can.  There is also the edition of the same glass multitouch trachpad that is in all the other Macbooks.

To make this model like the Pro Macbooks, Apple carried over the Unibody design, meaning bye-bye removable batteries!  The screen is also now LED lit so it consumes less power.

Overall, this is Apple's attempt at making their computer's "Reccession-Friendly".  Apple still refuses to compete with the prices of PC's Though.
